Mathematics Experiment #3

Decimal Equivalents of Reciprocals

N: Number to find reciprocal of

S:Digit in which repeating starts. -- indicates that it is a terminator

D:Number of digits in decimal answer

R:Number of repeating digits in decimal answer

Terminators:

Is there a pattern in determining which numbers terminate?

Is there a pattern in how many digits are in the terminators?

Repeaters:

Which numbers go the maximum number of digits?

*Plot as mod#'s and check which ones have symmetry.

Some odd N go half of N or (half of N +1). Which ones?

Any pattern to S?

Any relationship between prime #'s and those that go the maximum?

For composite N's, is there any relationship between R and the number of factors of N?

"Near Twins": consecutive N's with equal D's and R differing by 1. What are the Near Twins in our data sample?
